SPAIN
HEYCO Energy Iberia, a subsidiary of HEYCO Energy Group, operates a gas field and plant in Spain’s La Rioja region with existing production and multiple development wells planned.
HEYCO Energy Group also holds several licenses in Northern Spain covering the entire Gran Enara project (Valmaseda Formation).
THE VIURA GAS FIELD
The gas field in scenic La Rioja wine country is surrounded by vineyards growing grapes including its namesake Viura varietal.
In addition to existing production, the Viura concession allows for three additional natural gas wells, the first of which will be drilled in mid-2024. Additionally, HEYCO is exploring green projects at the Viura site including biomethane and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
Modeling using well and 3D seismic data estimates:
- ~205 BCF of gas initially in place (GIIP)
- Up to 12 MMCF/day by end of 2024
- 18 MMCF/day average over life of project
- 30 MMCF/day at peak production
Community Benefit:
- ~80 direct and indirect workers, contractors, and vendors are employed to support current production
- 1,100+landowners receive annual royalty checks from the development
- 4% of production revenue is contributed to the government, in addition to corporate taxes
- 84% decrease in Spain’s gas-related carbon emissions for domestic production compared to LNG from the U.S.
- 60% decrease in gas-related carbon emissions compared to importing via pipeline from Algeria (Source: Azentua)
