Egdon Resources is an established and respected oil and gas exploration and production business which is also actively developing opportunities for energy storage, hydrogen, geothermal and renewable generation.

Formed in 1997 by Mark Abbott and Andrew Hindle, Egdon was awarded its first licence in 1998. In 2000, Egdon gained its first operated licence and listed on the OFEX market. In 2004, it listed on AIM. 

With interests in 34 licences in the UK, Egdon has exposure to the full cycle of opportunities from exploration through to development and production of oil and gas. Its flagship project, the Wressle oil field, achieved total field production to 357,838 barrels of oil as of January 2023.

Egdon directly manages all aspects of conventional oil and gas activity, from seismic surveying, planning permissions, site construction, exploration drilling, testing and long-term production all the way through to decommissioning and restoring sites to their former use.

Egdon has other production assets including at Keddington and Ceres, as well as exploration projects at Biscathorpe, North Kelsey and an option on a new exploration project at Weaverthorpe.

While its primary focus is on conventional oil and gas projects, Egdon also has significant shale assets that are currently impacted by the UK’s moratorium on hydraulic fracturing for shale gas.
